I Don't Think We're in North Carolina Any More!
(13 days in some very strange places)

Prologue

This is a series of reports on a two-week trip that I took to India and Nepal in September/October 2003.

The whole escapade started when Brenda (my wife, for those of you who are stumbling in), decided to attend a writing workshop on Martha's Vineyard.  I love my wife, but I didn't want to kill a week of vacation staring at the sand, nor did I want to spend a week alone in our house at the mercy of our cats.   So I decided to sign up for a tour to India and Nepal; since Brenda had absolutely no desire to go to India, I figured it would be a win-win situation for us.  It turns out that I was the only one who signed up so they arranged for me to take a "private" tour, where I would be met in each city by a guide and driver.

This web page is actually a modified version of e-mail reports I sent to various people during the trip.  After I returned, I collected the e-mails, did some major editing (including adding some stuff) and added pictures.  So, if you received the original e-mails, you will probably still want to read the text to catch any additional amusing tidbits.
